BioBorn and Raised in Chicago.

25 at time of capture, actually closer to 22ish now after repeated feeding and reversal.

Aiden Tobias James Ford wasn't raised by a fool.
His father was a hero, abandoned to his fate. Left behind in a skirmish that never happened, on November 4th 1978. Only because one of the men he saved told his Gran years later did he know his father didn't die in a chopper crash.
He never knew he had a child on the way.
His mother died less than 3 years after his Father, breast cancer having robbed her of strength since before he could walk.
His Gran and Grampa had taken them both in, and when she passed they became his parents.
He was raised mostly by his Gran. His Grandfather worked as a cop in Chicago, his own life coming to a close less than 3 weeks shy of Aiden's 10th birthday. The shot that should have killed him instantly still claimed his life after almost a week of lingering.
Ford saw more of him in that week than he had in the year prior.
His Grandmother started suffering dementia when Aiden was 14. She had little recognition of Aiden by the time he was 18. By the time Aiden had graduated officer's school she had Alzheimer's to the point of seldom having any 'clear' or 'present' moments.
Second Lieutenant Ford was pulled into the SGC fresh from Officer's school. There he was put through a new training program and drilled on maneuvers for almost a month before being assigned to a recon team.
SG-14 became a harsher taskmaster than any Drill Sargent had been before them.
Through trials of fire he experienced his 22nd and 23rd birthdays with SG-14 as a family far closer than his own.
Ford worked hard, and after a little over two years he was shipped out as a brand new First Lieutenant and 2IC for what would be fondly called "The Penguin Brigade".
For nearly 2 and a half years he would be running not just Marines but Air Force and Army personnel through as many permutations of emergency drills as his people could come up with emergencies.
One of them would be adapted and used in an SGC training drill.
Ford would be considered for promotion to Captain with an SG-team placement twice during his time in Antarctica.
Both times he declined respectfully. When asked off the record why the first time, he smiled and told the officers that his men, regardless of what they started out as, were now "The Faithful Penguins".
This had become the theme to their call signs, and the McMurdo base personnel would pick up the slang "Penguin Reserve" for referring to the classified outpost.
When the Atlantis project is really seeming to move forward under Dr. Jackson's oversight, Ford makes sure every man that is on the volunteer list is aware of what a true outpost post might mean.
The day the Chair lights up, he knows they have their golden ticket. He knows it even before it's announced.
He knows his future lies ahead of him, and he knows that something is waiting for him.
The question is not that he'll go.
The question is what will he find?

He's kissed girls, fiddled about, but never made it to home base, with a girl.
He's been kissed once by a guy, and when drunk, woke up in bed half naked with a guy.
He also has semi-functional Gaydar, as in he sometimes just has a feeling someone likes xyz person.
It's wrong half the time. And always wrong in relation to himself.
